What a typical program session looks like

Most BTS programs follow a consistent structure to create a welcoming, supportive, and engaging experience for participants, which includes:

Welcome & Snack

Participants are welcomed into the space, have a snack, and connect with peers and staff (15–20 minutes).

Educational Component

Structured learning time focused on academic support, literacy, math and science, or youth development, depending on the program (60–75 minutes).

Physical Activity or Sport

Guided physical activity or sport-based programming that emphasizes participation, teamwork, and positive movement experiences (45–60 minutes).

This structure supports learning, relationship-building, and overall well-being while providing consistency across programs.
