Summer Recreation

Program Goal

Provide a safe, fun, and engaging summer experience for Musqueam children and youth. Program guidelines are designed to support a respectful environment where participants feel supported and able to enjoy meaningful recreational opportunities.

Overview

The Summer Program Coordinator supports Musqueam Recreation’s Summer Recreation Program, which runs May 1–Aug 31, and assists with the planning and delivery of additional community events. Working collaboratively with Musqueam Recreation staff, the Coordinator helps to implement structured and engaging programming for Musqueam children and youth throughout the summer.

The Summer Recreation Program runs Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM and is organized around themed weeks such as Water Week, Animal Week, and other rotating themes. Programming includes a combination of on-site activities and off-site field trips.

Program activities may include:

  • Field trips to the zoo, aquarium, Fraser Discovery Centre, museums, and movie theatres
  • Sport and recreation activities, such as sports days, sports camps, golf, trampoline parks, and swimming
  • Visits to community destinations, including Watermania and Big Splash
  • Cultural programming, such as bone games and cedar weaving

In addition to summer programming, the Summer Program Coordinator also supports the planning and implementation of major community events, including the Musqueam Annual Soccer Tournament and the Musqueam Canoe Races. This includes contributing to event coordination, logistics, and on-site support.
